A passion for nature at the heart of Luminante
Luminante’s story began long before the brand was created. It’s rooted in a shared passion for nature and the joy of crafting handmade pieces from natural elements.
From the very beginning, we’ve always looked to transform what nature offers into unique decorative pieces: driftwood, seashells, pinecones, fallen leaves, and other treasures collected along our walks. These materials were gathered from their natural environment, then carefully worked to give them a second life as original, eco-friendly decorations. Discover our French handcrafted candles
However, over time, one thing became clear: most candles on the market were made with paraffin wax, a petroleum by-product, and often scented with chemical substances that are harmful to health and the environment. Their look, while polished, often lacked originality, sticking to standardized shapes and colours. Aware of these shortcomings, we had the idea of combining our passion for craftsmanship and nature with the French tradition of candle-making, which is more environmentally friendly and more beautiful.
The shift to handcrafted candle-making
This realization led us to experiment with making our own candles, using only natural ingredients.
We learned to work with plant-based wax and natural fragrances to create handcrafted candles, without chemicals or harmful additives. Over the years, this activity became a true passion. That’s how we decided to devote all our time to perfecting this craft, by setting up our own workshop in Narbonne.
Our first creations met with growing success, and Luminante gradually took shape. Joining the EOLE business incubator allowed us to meet experts in different fields, learn, and continually improve our manufacturing methods—always staying true to our commitment to local craftsmanship and ecology.
Luminante, a Québec handcrafted candle maker
Luminante stands out for its dedication to traditional craftsmanship. Every candle we make is hand-poured in our workshop. We take the time needed to carefully choose each raw material. Our candles are made with 100% natural soy wax, certified organic and vegan. This wax burns cleanly and offers excellent scent throw.
The fragrances we use are developed in Grasse, an iconic city and the world capital of perfumery. Each scent is carefully selected to offer an authentic, natural olfactory experience. On top of that, we use untreated wooden wicks, mainly beech and cherry wood, to enhance the natural, handcrafted character of every candle.
The Luminante concept: the candle that becomes a plant
Beyond our commitment to healthy, eco-friendly candles, we wanted to innovate with a unique concept: the candle that becomes a plant. Once it’s burned down, each Luminante candle can be reused as a container to plant the seeds provided with the candle. This project was born from a desire to extend the useful life of our products, adding an ecological dimension to our approach.
The containers for our candles, like natural half coconut shells, are carefully selected for their aesthetic and eco-friendly quality. After use, thanks to the included planting kit, they can be filled with potting soil and seeds to grow herbs, flowers, or small vegetables.
This simple gesture lets everyone contribute, in their own way, to preserving nature—while enjoying a one-of-a-kind decorative piece.
An eco-responsible commitment at the heart of what we do
Luminante doesn’t just make quality handcrafted candles; we’re also actively committed to protecting the environment. In addition to choosing natural, recyclable materials and ingredients, we do everything we can to minimize our ecological impact at every stage of production.
For example, our coconut containers can be reused or recycled. Likewise, our candle packaging is entirely eco-responsible: we use recycled and recyclable cardboard.

Each member of our team brings their expertise to the creation process—whether it’s selecting raw materials, making the candles, or packaging. This human, handcrafted dimension makes our products unique pieces, made with love and respect for tradition.
On to new horizons: scented candle wholesaler
Building on our experience and expertise in handcrafted candle-making, we’ve also developed an offering for professionals. Luminante now provides candles wholesale, allowing boutiques, concept stores, and home décor shops to offer our creations to their customers. This commitment to the professional market reflects our desire to share our passion for handcrafted scented candles with an ever-wider audience.
